It has been so long since I have been wanting to do an Interview with Stephen Biro, now the time has come..

For those of you who may not know who Stephen Biro is, Mr Biro is a Movie Director of movies such as American Guinea Pig Franchise Bouquet Of Guts and Gore & The Song of Solomon, he is the President and founder of Unearthed Films Inc. He isn’t just a Producer, Writer and Actor but also has his hands in Special Effects too.. Pretty awesome.

Kirsty Nightmare: Well Mr Biro it is a pleasure to finally have this interview with you, although it would of been a lot better face to face so we could have done a Video Interview, but never the less it’s happening. How are you doing?

Stephen Biro: I am doing wonderful… walls have a fresh coat of blood on them and were excited for everything that is in the works with Unearthed and myself.

Kirsty Nightmare:  Firstly a huge congratulations for being accepted to Stiges with your movie The Song of Solomon, how does it feel to have your movies showcased at such big events such as Stiges?

Stephen Biro: It’s amazing, they showed Bouquet of Guts and Gore in 2015 but I didn’t get to go. Solomon is a different beast all together and they are very excited to show it. I can’t wait to see people’s reactions to it. Hopefully, we get into more festivals with it.

Kirsty Nightmare: In you’re own words, for all the newbie fans out there can you describe you’re movies? and what you’re all about? just so new fans know what they are getting into.

Stephen Biro: I’m an old school gorehound. Horror was always my genre of films and I grew up in 1981 with one of the 1st VCR’s ever made. I would rent every horror movie available and as the years progressed, would be in the underground tape trading/bootleg market so I was watching gore films from all around the world before they were available on dvd. Needless to say, it took a lot to shock me so the more graphic/fx heavy films were my favorite. So I’m taking my love for intensity for brutal gore films and trying to push the envelope with effects heavy horror films not for the faint of heart.

Kirsty Nightmare: And can you tell us all why you decided to get into Directing etc and how you did what you did?

Stephen Biro: I’ve been running Unearthed Films for over 15 years and before that, Video Mayhem of Florida. Since I have distribution and handle all of my own international sales, it was a lot easier for me to jump into the director’s chair. It also helps to know some of the best in the independent horror scene, so my easing into directing was easier then most. Why am I doing this? I wasn’t seeing the ultra violent films being made anymore. So I decided to do it myself.

Kirsty Nightmare: The first movie you produced was the Documentary Philosophy of a Knife, what made you decide to take on such a big project? and can you explain in you’re own words what this Documentary is about for all of those people out there that may not have seen it yet and what the aim was behind it?

Stephen Biro: The aim was to showcase the atrocities of Unit 731 and the barbaric nature of what man can do to man. I think we accomplished that. It’s a bit long though, takes two viewings to watch it all.

Kirsty Nightmare: One of my favorite movies you ever Produced and wrote was Bloodshock back in 2015, it has been 2 years and 2 very fast years it only seemed like yesterday you released it. I love the black and white but color elements you did and thought it fit very well with the movie, the soundtrack and how bold it was, definitely a movie that’s underrated in my solid opinion, Marcus Koch also whom I did an interview with did an astounding job. What are you’re thoughts on this movie and how it turned out? would you change anything looking back at it now?

Stephen Biro: Thanks, Marcus did an excellent job directing it. Very happy he liked my story and gave it the life it needed to make it a reality. Dan Ellis did an amazing job. I wouldn’t change a thing since it’s experimental in it’s nature of depravity and viciousness.

Kirsty Nightmare: We all know, well most of us hardcore fans know you are the President and Founder of Unearthed Films inc along with Paul White and Rhett Rushing, I also know from my research and looking on you’re Unearthed Website you import exploitation films primarily from Eastern Asia, but what made you and the other guys decided to set up you’re own Company and why did you call it Unearthed Films??

Stephen Biro: Me and Rhett came up with the Unearthed title. Were unearthing titles like an archeologist at the time. Actually, it really fell into my lap. I had a cult video store at the time and I was approached by a Japanese company about the Guinea Pig Films and it slowly evolved from there.

Kirsty Nightmare: I love the website Unearthed Films because it has as stated above Exploitation movies but also movie’s I like to call underground Horror Movies, movie’s you like to watch in you’re basement and you don’t want people to find out lol. But moving on, Unearthed Films has some of my favorites like the Guinea Pig Franchise and in a box set, Aftermath Genesis, Cannibal, Philosophy Of A Knife obviously and many more. Is there any movie on Unearthed that you don’t specifically like? which ones are you’re favorite and does you’re company have new additions all the time or only when you can get them??

Stephen Biro: Ha ha! I hand pick all of the films, so I dig em all. We have a lot of new additions that we haven’t announced yet. Some films, are a bitch to get the rights to, some are easy. Me, personally, I am having a hard time, licensing films for the simple fact, is I can make them now for the same amount of money and own them forever instead of just putting them out for 7 years and letting them go OOP.

Kirsty Nightmare: What is you’re favorite Movie of all time?

Stephen Biro: Used to be Cannibal Holocaust, then it was Bad Taste, then it was Dead Alive, then it was Opera but it was always Guinea  Pig. As you can tell.

Kirsty Nightmare: You have worked with some amazing people in the Independant Films Family such as Marcus Koch, Andrey Iskanov, Frank AKA Eigh8tThe Chosen One and many more. If there was 1 person you would work with again who would it be and why?

Stephen Biro: Marcus Koch. He’s a brilliant FX artist and having him by your side, you know your going to get the FX work like you want.

Kirsty Nightmare: Is there anybody specifically you would like to work with and why??

Stephen Biro: Srdjan Spasojevic, director of A Serbian Film, but I am already doing that working on the extended cut of A Serbian Film and A Serbian Documentary. Lets see… Mmmmm,  I would have to say, TF Mou! He speaks english, loved Men Behind The Sun and Black Sun: The Nanking Massacre. He’s a great guy and I have the script for the actual 3rd film in his trilogy. I would love to make it a reality someday.

Kirsty Nightmare: Now A Serbian one would be epic. Would you name at least 10 Horror Movies you would recommend fans to watch?

Stephen Biro: I’ll choose some off beat gore films instead of the stuff that everyone suggests. Organ Naked Blood. The Untold Story. Premutos Story of Rikki Found Der Todesking. Make Them Die Slowly. Mordum. Braindead (Uncut Dead Alive)

Kirsty Nightmare: I read somewhere you have released a Biography or some novel? and where is the best place to catch you for Tweeting, Instagraming etc?

Stephen Biro: Ha! I wrote three, Hellucination, Dialogue with the Devil, Satan Reborn, The Ultimate Dead Baby Joke Book… all on Amazon. To get in touch with us,

Kirsty Nightmare: Now the fun questions; what do you order at Starbucks, Taco Bell Etc???

Stephen Biro: Starbucks, Caramel Frappachino, Taco Bell, as many supreme tacos as I can and anything else,  meat!

Kirsty Nightmare: What is the last song you listened to?

Stephen Biro: Angel of Death by SLayer

Kirsty Nightmare: Thank you so much Mr Stephen Biro for doing this interview, I really appreciate the time you have took to reply to this e-mail and thank you x

Stephen Biro: Thank you! Sorry it took me a bit to get to it! Hope it’s cool enough for you!
